Cast on 32 stitches (I used a size 4 US needle 3.5m)
Knit Garter Stitch for 4.5 inches end with right side facing
Next 2 rows: Bind off 6 stitches at the beginning of each row, knit to end.
Join Orange yarn and knit across row.
Next row: Begin Seed stitch* for first 10 stitches. Make one purlwise stitch, continue in seed stitch for last 10 stitches.(now 21 stitches on needle. The purl stitch will be your center stitch)
Continue in Seed Stitch, purling every center stitch, for 1.5 inches.
With right side facing K2together across first 10 stitches, purl center stitch, K2together to end of row.
Next Row: P2together across row, P1
Thread yarn through remaining 6 stitches, pull to tighten.
Before stitching bootie you will want to embellish your bill with black yarn. Then, Fold bootie in half and stitch. Fold down top to make a cuff. Add eyes to the front of the turned down cuff. I used black yarn to embroider 2 french knots but you could sew on 2 black buttons if you prefer.
*Seed Stitch = K1,P1 every other row. P1 K1 every other row
Very cute!!

Thanks for the encouragement Denise. You can find them on my Ravelry Project page (organizedtoknit) and there's a link there to this page for the pattern -- although I'm still hesitant to call it a "pattern" more of a template to follow.
