Today we drove up to Sedona and I discovered another great little yarn store, the Sedona Knit Wits. Petra, the store's owner is a delightful person and I felt warmly welcomed within seconds of entering her shop.
This is another dream yarn store for wool-free knitters. Lots and lots of wool free fibers here. The yarns are laid out by color (rather than by weight or fiber) which was a new approach I've not seen before, but I found it really a fun way to shop.
She has a huge selection of local yarn from conjoined creations, handcrafted in Cave Creek, AZ. Most of their stuff is wool free and I was like a kid in a candy store trying to decide what color I wanted and then did I want laceweight or Chenille or ribbon yarn or....
Petra, the store's new owner, had visited this store several month's ago after hearing the store was closing. She went in the hopes of getting a good deal on yarn. But a few days later she found herself calling them up to say she would be interested in buying the store and after a major renovation of the store's look and feel, she's having the time of her life as the store's new owner.
I've no doubt she'll do well given her bubbly personality, her emphasis on local yarns, and her super friendly and helpful approach to her customers. She does do mail order, but if you happen to be in Sedona you definitely want to put this store top on your list of places to visit. Really a fun place to shop!

VERY cool! How fun to be an unexpected yarn shop owner. :) There's one store in California I know of that also organizes by color. I like it as well.
