So, all the pieces of the Augusta shrug were knit and seamed and I had this tiny wee ball of yarn left-over. The pattern called for a front edging consisting of 3 rows of knit plus a bindoff. Now anyone can clearly see that I do not have enough yarn left for this grand finish.
I knew, when I started this shrug, that I was going to be cutting it close with the yardage. I knew how much yarn the pattern called for and I knew that I was more than a few yards short but I sort of hoped it might all work out anyway. It didn't, and yet in the end it did.
Because, rather then go through all the challenges of locating one more hank of this yarn in the same color/dyelot (remember I bought it in Ontario, Canada), I decided to experiment with a finished front edge of my own.
I chose a 3 stitch applied I-cord and I am thrilled with how it is turning out. I'm also thrilled that yet another WIP is soon to be off the needles.
Anybody else have a tendency to under-buy yarn?
