It doesn't look like much from the outside, but Purlesence is one yarn store you'll want to visit if you are ever driving through Sunnyvale, CA.
They carry a LOT of yarn and a really good selection of wool-free yarns as well. I found Kollage Riveting and Luscious (sadly the latter has been discontinued), Euroflax Linen, Shibui linens and silks. Cascade Pima Cottons, Organic cotton...the list is long.
The fibers are intermixed throughout the store, but ask one of the owners for help and she'll lead you straight to all the wool free yarns she carries. Sandi said they have a lot of customers who require wool-free yarn so she does her best to stock good choices for them. Love that!
And what to my wondering eyes did I see but wool-free roving -- cotton, bamboo, flax, and silk. Someday I'd like to try knitting with some wool-free roving (unspun). Sandi suggested their faux-cashmere and/or silk hankies as good choices for that. I will definitely have to go back some time and look more seriously at these options.
I stocked up on some Kollage yarn and picked up a skein of a new-to-me cotton/linen blend by Linnette. Oh, and a dreamz 4.5, 24" circular needle. I'm slowing building my set.
Wonder what you would buy if you stopped in!
