I had told a dear friend of mine to tell me if there was anything she'd like me to knit for her and sometime last year she said she'd love it if I'd knit her a tea cozy.
I looked at dozens of patterns and had a few I thought might suit but then I noticed she'd pinned a photo of one on Pinterest that looked like a little country cottage. The only problem was there was no such pattern to be found so I ended up creating one of my own by loosely following the measurements of the felted Cottage Tea Cozy in Jane Austen Knits, 2013.
In the end I think it turned out kind of cute. I used scraps of Alpaca yarn (held double in some instances) and wee bits of silk on the embellishments. Tea Cozies are great projects for using up scrap yarn.
My friend was surprised and delighted by the gift as she'd long forgotten she'd asked me for a tea cozy and she had no recollection of pinning a photo of one -- but she would pin it again if she saw this one -- she thought it was lovely!
