We've been having some unusually warm weather here in SF the past week (remember, Mark Twain's quote "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco?) Not true this week.
So I've been busy planning and planting the back garden and these lovely winged creatures have been keeping me company.
I just adore hummingbirds and could watch them all day. Did you know they need the nectar from 1,000 blooms a day to keep themselves fed? I'm doing my part by planting flowers I know they love, like this "Illumination Flame" Foxglove (digitalis) .
Their little wings go a mile a minute. If they could knit, just imagine how fast those needles would fly!
