So, I've started another afghan. I'm hoping to have it all knit up by Christmas which is rather ambitious since it's almost November and I've just finished the first square but that's sort of my style.
The good news is that I've only got ONE afghan on the sticks this year (not three like last year) and it's a bulky yarn (surely that will go fast, right? ) Except it's also intarsia so that tends to go a little slower than some other types of knitting. Still, I think I can do it and if I can't, well it will be another I.O.U. in someone's birthday card.
(wet blocking which has altered the color)
This is the first square of the Sheep Afghan and I'm knitting it for my sister who is just ga-ga over sheep and who was just a tiny bit envious when her three daughters got hand-knitted afghans for their birthdays last year and she didn't. She's had a very rough year and I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that she can end it wrapped up in all this sheepy goodness.
I'm using Berroco Comfort Chunky (one of the few wool-free bulky yarns with enough of the right colors). I picked the yarn up at Webs Yarn store last month and it sure helps to get their 20% discount on a project of this size.
So, wish me luck. I'm on my way. Just 14 more squares and the border to go!
You operate like I do. I'm always coming up with last minute stuff. Wednesday I am having my knee replaced so I'm hoping I can do tons of knitting during my recovery. Tomorrow I'll get some projects set up and ready near my rehab area. Gotta keep knitting, right?

Good luck, and can't wait to see the final project! And you are definitely ambitious, at least compared to me, who started an afghan in January and am only 1/4 done!

Well, Alyssa, that's probably because I don't have a baby to look after -- frees up a lot of time for knitting!

Marty, hope your surgery and recovery go smoothly. Knitting your way through it sounds like a great plan!
