I started this stole a really long time ago (yikes, has it really been 2 years in the making?).
I thought it was a great pattern for using up some of my linen leftovers. The colors I used are dark and light teal, grey, green, gold, cream and navy.
The Sonoma Stole is a pattern by Carol Sunday. Originally sold as a kit (with wool included) it is now also available as a pattern purchase only which is good news for wool-free knitters.
You can choose any striping sequence you like for the stole but I followed Carol's suggestion in the pattern because I thought it worked well with the colors I had chosen.
I think linen is a good substitution for the wool called for in this pattern because it will get softer and drapier with subsequent washing and it's light enough in weight that it's so not so heavy to wrap around the neck.
It's a perfect weight for a breezy summer Sunday stroll in San Francisco.
