I knit up a few hats for gifting over the holidays. Two of my beautiful nieces were happy recipients of these slouchy hats.
Chels is sporting the Rikke hat using Sirdar's Snuggly Baby Crofter yarn (color Hazel 177). From the back view you can see how this yarn works up in an informal self-striping pattern. Pretty hat for a pretty lady!
Cait is wearing the Bulky Hat which I knit up in Schachnmayr's Bravo Big Colors (Ocean Mix color 00087). If you are looking for a wool-free Super Bulky yarn, this is a great one. I love the feel of it and how quickly it knits up. And the color looks fabulous on Cait -- doesn't she look beautiful?!
I also knit the Baa-ble Hat for my sheep lovin' sister. The yarn is Sirdar Cotton Rich Aran which has just enough acrylic to give it stretch. I followed the pattern exactly and the hat turned out pretty large so I think if I were doing it again I'd try it with these modifications from Susan B. Anderson.
The hat can be worn a few different ways but since this is on the long side I like it best worn as a slouchy hat. My sister has the personality to go with the hat -- bright and happy!
And speaking of slouchy hats, here's a pic of the baby wearing the one I knit for him.
You gotta admit, he really knows how to rock a hat!
love, love, love!!!! next Christmas we all need hats and then a hat photo!!! lol!!!
I love my sheep hat, have worn it every day this week!!!

A great blog, Joan. I am enjoying reading it - will come back to it later -- I am on "snacks" for this evening's Bible study upstairs.
I've been looking for a new hat -like my current one that has stretched -- a head-hugging one that pulls down to ear-tips. ... (I could send photo) ...this is like a shag, in red -- I would like a tan -- could you make one for me ? not too bulky This one measures about 20" across - it has stretched . What do you think ? (Aunt ) Marg)
-measured at the base-- 😌‼️
